The first professional London production in 35 years

"You are not at liberty to avenge the pornography industry in this country. We have the censorship laws for that."

Masterpieces follows Rowena's journey: From seeing a pornographic magazine for the first time, through a thwarted attempt to help an unhappy prostitute, to radical and disgusted protest at female subjugation.

First performed in 1983 (Royal Exchange Theatre, Royal Court Theatre), Masterpeices couldn't be more timely today.

A passionate indictment of pornography, the objectification of women and those who condone violence against them.

HOLLY GEORGIA

A brother condemned to walk forever in the shadow of death.

A family teetering on the brink of catastrophe.

A world where one girl dares to take a stand.

This blistering new adaptation by Christopher Adams and directed by Tamsin Shasha sees Sophocles’ tragedy reimagined in a dystopian landscape, where fate is written in code and where drones flock across the skies. Brought to life by innovative theatre company Actors of Dionysus, this production combines bold ideas with passionate and visceral physical theatre.

A stunning new play from multi-award-winning Canadian playwright Michael Healey (whose Generous and The Drawer Boy were sell-out successes at the Finborough Theatre), Proud explores the corrosive nature of the politics of division, and asks what we actually want out of our politics and our politicians. Welcome to my house. Come freely. Go safely; and leave something of the happiness you bring.”

Jonathan Goddard plays the infamous Vampire Count, whose sinister and ruthless ambitions challenge the very fabric of Victorian society. As his victims and opponents rally against him they must face the darkness and savagery within themselves.

Bruce’s company of ten exceptional dancers bring Bram Stoker’s haunting, erotic tale to life in a heart wrenching and magical dance theatre production. With an eclectic mix of music from Bach and Mozart to Ligeti and Fred Frith, Bruce explores choreographic styles ranging from the subtlety of classical etiquette to visceral contemporary dance.

Dracula is lit by Guy Hoare, designed by Phil Eddolls with costumes by Dorothee Brodrueck and puppets and masks by Pickled Image.

Fifteen-year-old Dot has an off-kilter, maybe psychopathic, idea for her school science project. She plans to chart the progress of her father after he's thrown out of his office window to demonstrate that everyone and everything falls at the same rate.
Dad Michael (Nicholas Cass-Beggs) is focused on the big deal that will see him promoted to the 85th floor, while Mum Laura is desperate to get a presenting job on local TV -Neither has time for their daughter.
Eventually, everything crashes around Dot in ways the laws of physics did not predict. Change things and that change might just be in a direction you neither expect nor desire. The resultant reality is not what Dot, or the audience, expects.

Carousel is a story of love, loss and the possibility of redemption. Fairground barker Billy Bigelow is quick to anger, but he is loved by a woman, Julie Jordan, who keeps faith with him despite his flaws. It is also a vivid portrait of a society: a fishing community in New England ready to celebrate the joys of living as well as to face its hardships square on.

The score is studded with classic numbers, including ‘If I Loved You’, ‘June is Bustin’ Out All Over’, ‘Soliloquy’ and, of course, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

Taking as its starting point the final moments of the Second World War in Berlin, The Zero Hour follows the stories of three couples living through three very different versions of the same historical events. In one version two Russian soldiers celebrate their survival amid the ruins of Berlin as, at the same time they prepare to say goodbye. In another, a British intelligence officer visits a Germany, allied with Britain, which has almost won the war against the Soviet Union, and where the Red army may have discovered a way to send messages through time. In a third a triumphant Soviet Union has occupied all of Europe except for Great Britain with whom an uneasy truce is maintained. Across these different histories the protagonists’ lives connect or fail to connect in ways which echo and resonate and gradually build a picture of human stoicism in the face of the wave of history. The Zero Hour asks difficult questions about how we understand ourselves in relation to the times and the universe in which we find ourselves. It is work which is overtly philosophical and we hope humane. It is also unapologetically romantic and shot through with the obsessions (sex, babies, death WW2 and time travel) which are the hall marks of ITD’s narrative inventions.

On a formal level The Zero Hour continues ITD’s exploration of the relation between live action , computer generated animation and recorded material. In particular, the events of the stage are filmed and projected by a Chinese film crew, a device which helps to frame the audience’s interrogation of the process of the writing of history and the production of fictions.

6 Degrees Below the Horizon is a macabre and playful tale involving sailors, pimps, barflies, chorus girls and nightclub singers. In this startling and visually stunning new work the audience view the action through windows and moving frames to piece together a modern fable of failed dreams, lost love and the guilt of absent fatherhood.

Building on the recent successes of Hotel Methuselah and Kellerman, Leeds based imitating the dog create a memorable and immersive experience for the audience in this captivating fusion of cinema and theatre. Part French film, part Edwardian vaudeville and drawing on the works of Genet, Wedekind, and Brecht, 6 Degrees Below the Horizon takes its audiences on a delightful and twisted voyage into a shadowy world in which there are no certainties.

In pre-Stonewall America the communist Harry Hay and the Viennese refugee and designer Rudi Gernreich came together to build the first gay rights organisation, in a world where danger was never far away and an intoxicating secrecy hung in the air. The Temperamentals tells the story of two men who faced an epic struggle to create history – and who, through their struggles, fell in love…

Cheops’ Pyramid. Egypt. 2,700 B.C.

The biggest, most terrifying and dangerous construction site the world has ever known.

A hundred thousand men will haul two and a half million limestone blocks weighing a total of six million tons up a building the size of a skyscraper using nothing but human muscle.

On his first day working on the pyramid, one young man has to adapt quickly to a new life in a work gang where intense friendships and hatreds are forged in a feverish furnace of desert heat, brutal humour, backbreaking work, horrific accidents, drink, sex and death.

And as the ghosts of dead workmates and visions of Amun Ra the Sun God elbow their way into Makhthon’s dreams, something strange is happening just out of sight, on the higher ledges of the pyramid, where the workers are never allowed.

Where does the stairway really lead?

The London premiere of this darkly funny, strangely contemporary, intense and visionary journey to another world …

When her dead brother is decreed a traitor, his body left unburied beyond the city walls, Antigone refuses to accept this most severe of punishments. Defying her uncle who governs, she dares to say ‘No’. Forging ahead with a funeral alone, she places personal allegiance before politics, a tenacious act that will trigger a cycle of destruction.
